Entrance auditions 2024

To help you through the online application, please use the Application Guide.

1. Application periods and deadlines

Please apply for entrance auditions and applications to assume studies in Winter semester 2024/25 using the online portal APP (here). Applications received after the end of the application process are not processed.You can apply for a maximum of three courses. You have to register for each application separately.

Detailed information to the repertoire and form of the exams are available on the internet sites “Programmes of study”.

Study programmes music

 

Please note that some study programmes have a two-tiered application process. To start with, there is a digital preround based on a written application and videos, with a subsequent live exam for students who pass the preround. Other study programmes have only one round with live exams.

The application portal for the musical study programmes is open from 9th February 2024 until 5th April 2024.

Invitations to the entrance audition and the admission examination will be sent approximately 2 weeks before the live entrance audition. Invitations to the admission examination for the study programme M. A. Music Research and Music Education are sent approximately four weeks beforehand.

Entrance audition and admission examination (live round) will take place between 10th June 2024 and 16th June 2024.

The date for the Admission interview M.A. Music Research and Music Education will be announced soon.

Study programme in acting

 

The deadline for applications to study the diploma in acting as of summer semester 2023 has passed. Applications to start in summer 2024 will be possible as of September 2023 (detailed information follows at a later date).

2. Fees

Administration fee

 

The university charges an administrative fee of 50 € for the first study programme and 30 € for every other study programme for participation in the entrance audition and admission examination. Payment of the fee is a prerequisite for submitting the application. The administration fee will not be refunded. This also applies in case of rejection of the application or withdrawal from the entrance audition and admission examination.

Enrollment Fee

 

The enrollment fee is approximately 400 €. This includes the GVH semester ticket, the state-wide Lower Saxony ticket, contributions to the AStA and Studentenwerk and an administrative fee. 3. Application documents

In order to take part in the entrance audition and admission examination, you must upload the application documents listed below in the online portal APP (note the deadlines).

Overview

 

Certificates, attestations and other similar documents in foreign languages must be submitted in a certified German or English translation.

  • Application form
    The application form must be completed online within the application period.
  • Tabular curriculum vitae
    With details of previous musical educational background.
  • Proof of payment
    Proof of payment of the administration fee.
  • Copy of school leaving certificate
    Please send us only copies of certificates and no originals. All application documents submitted will be duly destroyed after completion of the admission procedure. If the school leaving certificate is still missing at the time of application, the school interim report must be enclosed and the school leaving certificate must be submitted by the time of enrolment.
  • Copy of the first university degree
    Please only send copies of certificates and no originals. All application documents submitted will be duly destroyed after completion of the admission procedure. If the university degree certificate is still missing at the time of application, the university interim certificate must be enclosed and the university degree certificate must be submitted within 6 months of the start of studies.
  • Proof of periods of studies already completed, study and examination achievements
    For applicants who have already studied at other universities in relevant study programmes and would like to be placed in higher semesters; please submit certificates/proofs.
  • Proof of German language skills
    For the vast majority of degree programmes, international applicants must provide proof of language proficiency at TDN 3 or TDN 4 level. You can find detailed information on the required language skills and the certificates that are recognised at HMTMH here.
  • Application for Parallel Studies
    Applicants who are already enrolled at another university (or who are planning to do so) and who would also like to obtain a degree at HMTMH must submit an application for parallel studies. This can be done via the online portal.

    You can find out which further documents need to be enclosed in the respective "Information on the entrance audition and admission examination" for your desired study programme. You will find the information sheets on the corresponding study programme pages under study programmes.

4. After the entrance audition and admission examination (live round)

After the end of all live entrance auditions and admission examinations, applicants usually receive a notification with the result via the Online-Portal APP within two weeks.

Enrolment takes place in the winter semester of the same year (studies begin on 1 October of the year in which the entrance audition and admission examination was held). If you wish to begin your studies in the following winter semester, you will need to apply again for the next year entrance audition and admission examination.
