Application periods and deadlines for applications to take the admission examination 2017

  • Course in Acting: 20 October 2016 - 15 January 2017 (postmark to serve as proof of posting date)
  • Courses in Media Management and in Media and Music: 10 Mai 2017 - 15 June 2017
  • Master’s Degree Courses for the Higher Secondary Teaching Qualification and in Education for Special Needs: Applications are to be addressed to Leibniz University Hannover
  • All other courses: 06 February 2017 - 15 April 2017  (postmark to serve as proof of posting date)

Application documents

For admission to all musican programms of study you should include the following documents:  

  • The application form
    The application must be fill out online within the application period. You will find the online-application here.
    We provide an application guide for international students.
  • Curriculum vitae (résumé) in tabular form, with details of earlier musical education
  • One passport photo
  • Copy of school leaving certificate or of a first degree certificate representing a vocational qualification. 
    If at the time of application the applicant does not yet have a certificate, but will in all probability obtain it in time before the start of the course at the HMTMH, the certificate from any preliminary examination or an interim certificate must be attached and the degree certificate forwarded as soon as possible.
  • Proof of previous periods of higher education, with course credits and examination results for applicants who have already followed relevant courses at other institutions of higher education and wish to be admitted to higher semesters.
  • Foreign applicants without a certificate in German that shows their eligibility to be admitted to higher education and without a first degree from a German-language institute of higher education must demonstrate that they have sufficient mastery of the German language to pursue the course. The University of Music and Drama requires the TestDaF Examination (TDN), Level 3, or the Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang (DSH-1). The certificate must be presented not later than when the student registers.
    Students seeking admission to the "Solo Performance Class" course or to a higher semester of the “Diplom” course in Musical Performance / Artistic Training in Music after taking a first degree abroad do not need to present an examination certificate showing linguistic competence.

  • Specific application documents for the various courses: Which further documents are to be attached to an application to the HMTMH can be found in the memorandum "Information on the Admission Examination" specific to the course you wish to pursue. These memorandums can be found on the relevant course website page, in each case in the download area on the right.
    If the documents to be presented are not in German, a certified translation into German must be presented. Applications for admission that are incomplete or not submitted by the appropriate deadline will be rejected. In such cases, the candidate has no claim to be allowed to take the admission examination.

Fee

The University of Music, Drama and Media Hannover charges a fee of €50 for participation in the application and admission procedures for all courses. The fee is due when the application form is submitted. Evidence of payment should be submitted with the application documents (payment voucher stamped by the bank, or copy of a bank statement). The fee is non-refundable. This still applies if the application is rejected or if the candidate withdraws from the admission examination.

Conditions for admission

Students can be admitted to the University of Music, Drama and Media Hannover only at the beginning of the winter semester each year.
To gain admission to a course of study applicants must take part in an acceptance procedure involving an admission examination in which they are required to demonstrate particular aptitude.
