Prof. Tim Schüler
Professor of speech training
Tim Schüler has been teaching acting as a professor of speech training since the winter semester 2024/25.
Early on during his speech science studies at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, he deliberately focused on speech training in acting: alongside his master's degree, he taught at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna and at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Academy of Music and Theatre in Leipzig, among others.
Tim Schüler moved from the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts to the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. In Berlin, he taught speech training and devoted himself to the subject of ‘Speaking in front of the camera’ as part of his research centre. At the same time, he trained students in ‘Gestural Speaking’ in the Musical/Show programme at the Berlin University of the Arts.
Since 2015, Tim Schüler has regularly supervised rehearsal processes and staged readings at the German department of the Theatrul National Radu Stanca in Sibiu, Romania. The German State Theatre in Timisoara also brought him in for an intensive workshop on ‘Gestural Speaking’.
Through his work at theatres in Germany and abroad, he has accompanied various theatre productions by directors such as Alexander Riemenschneider, Armin Petras, Herbert Fritsch and Ron Zimmering. Since the 2023/24 season, he has been the in-house speech coach for the Theater an der Parkaue - Junges Staatstheater Berlin.
A particular passion and specialisation is the subject of speaking choirs. Tim Schüler has worked on several large and small choruses - with both professionals and amateurs - for radio and theatre, e.g. at the Berliner Ensemble, the Berlin University of the Arts and the Humboldt Forum in the Berlin Palace (current project 2024: ‘Bau auf! Bau ab!’)
He regularly gives freelance seminars and coaching sessions for lawyers, journalists and managers, among others.
