Education for Special NeedsMinor subject Music

Information on the study programme

Degree Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)
Standard study duration 4 semesters (Minor subject Music at the University of Music, Drama and Media)

Subjects: Artistic subjects (instrument and voice), music education, historical musicology and elementary music education

Music is offered as a second or teaching subject within the “Special Education, B.A.” degree program. Special education is studied as a first subject. The first two semesters are reserved for the content of the first subject. The courses in the second subject are added from the third semester onwards. If the second subject of music is chosen, it is not studied at Leibniz Universität Hannover, but at HMTMH. As part of the Bachelor's degree course, the second subject in music offers a pronounced practical music component (instrumental and vocal lessons. Song accompaniment with piano, guitar and Orff instruments, free improvisation forms etc.) as well as special music education content (elementary or classroom music-making, rhythmics, song leading, use of digital music media) and music theory content (general music theory, ear training, overview of music history).(If the second subject Music is chosen, the HMTMH will receive a message from the Enrolment Office of Leibniz Universität Hannover during the first semester of study about the number of applicants for the second subject Music. As the number of study places is limited, applicants will be invited to an assessment procedure at HMTMH at the end of the first semester).
