  • What is STA?:
  • • ERASMUS+ STA (Staff Mobility for Teaching Assignment) promotes visiting lectureships at European partner universities
    • Teachers can share their expertise at a foreign university
    • Teachers can share their teaching methods

  • Key Action 1:
  • KA 131 (Europe-wide): Mobility of students and staff in program countries
    KA 171 (worldwide): Cooperation with partner countries is being pursued.

    REQUIREMENTS

    To participate in an Erasmus+ KA 131 teaching mobility (STA) stay, certain conditions must be met. Among other things, the desired partner university must have a valid Erasmus+ agreement with HMTMH (IIA: International-Institutional Agreement). If such an agreement does not exist, please contact the International Office at HMTMH. It can then be discussed whether an IIA can be concluded with the desired partner university.

  • Framework conditions:
  • • The supported individual's employment must be in the form of a contractual position at HMTMH. This includes both permanent and temporary positions, but unfortunately, NO adjunct lecturers.
    • Length of stay: min. 2 to max. 60 working days (excluding travel days)
    • Teaching load: 8 hours per week or less

    PREPARATION

    Before officially applying for teaching mobility, please speak with your supervisor if necessary. Afterwards, please contact the International Office (IO) in good time, as the complete application documents must be submitted to the IO at least 4 weeks before departure.

    FINANCIAL SUPPORT

    Financial support is provided in lump sums. The daily allowance and travel expenses form a lump sum, which is paid out as a one-time payment after the mobility period. This does not include hotel bills or reimbursement of individual expenses (food, taxis, etc.).

  • • Country Group 1 (180 euros/day):
    Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom
    • Country Group 2 (160 euros/day): Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Malta, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Czech Republic, Cyprus
    • Country Group 3 (140 euros/day): Bulgaria, Croatia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Turkey, Hungary

  • Travel allowance:
  • • Standard trip: Grant based on travel distance: As the crow flies to Erasmus+ distance calculator (e.g., 500-1999 km: €309)
  • Green Travel:
  • • Bus, train, carpool (from 2 people), etc., but NO ship
    • More than 50% of the total journey must be completed using "green" means of transport
    • Higher funding rate than standard travel, e.g., €417 for 500-1999 km
    • Additional funded travel days (2-6 days)
    • Keep proof for 5 years
  • Third countries not associated with the program (outside KA 131):
  • Switzerland:
    • Swiss European Mobility Programme (SEMP) ≈ Erasmus+
    • Possible funding through partner universities UK & Others:
    • UK: NO longer a program country after Brexit Small budget: up to 20% of the total approved KA131 budget for international mobility outside the EU/program countries
  • PROMOS – DAAD mobility program:
  • Conditions:
    • All countries except currently Russia and Belarus
    • No partnership between host universities and HMTMH Funding:
    • Small budget: different funding rates than Erasmus
    • Distribution by the International Office: Consultation with the International Office is required!
    • No funding in case of travel warnings

  • Important Information:
  • Vacation & Business Trips:
    • Private stays can be combined with Erasmus
    • However, no funding is possible Tax Liability:
    • Erasmus+ allowances are taxable
    • Reporting to the tax office by HMTMH
    • Keep receipts for your annual income tax return

  • Important Documents:
  • Invitation Letter: Prerequisite for the stay and funding (responsibility lies between the receiving institution and the teacher)
    Grant Agreement: Funding agreement between the teacher and the sending institution (IO)
    "Ehrenwörtliche Erklärung": Green Travel (application by the teacher)
    • Mobility Agreement: Agreement on teaching activities between the receiving institution, the teacher, and the sending institution
    Travel Request Form: A1 Certificate (application by the teacher to the Human Resources Department)
  • After Return:
  • Confirmation of Departure + Participant Report (EU Survey)
    • Disbursement of the grant amount by the IO
