October 21st: Service restrictions
On Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the electricity meters in the building at Leisewitzstr. 39 will be replaced in the afternoon. At some point between 1:15 PM and 4:15 PM, the power will be switched off for a maximum of 30 minutes. All electrical devices must be turned off before the power is cut. From 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, the Central Library can only be used as a place for learning and work. During the power outage, the Central Library team will not be reachable by email or phone.
The following services are available:
- Use of study spaces
- Media returns
- Ordering media from the storage and using these media only on-site
The following services are not available:
- Media loans
- New registrations and renewals of access rights
- Pickup of orders and holds
- Printing
- Copying, scanning
- WLAN usage
- Use of library computers
- Use of power outlets
- Elevator usage

The Library is closed on weekends, public holidays and from Dec. 24th 2026 till Jan. 03rd 2027.
For university staff, additional use in justified individual cases can be agreed upon by calling 0511-3100 279 or by email.
The return box is available during the opening hours of the annex buildings (Uhlemeyerstraße 21, Plathnerstraße 35 and Leisewitzstraße 39).
