Dr Michael Müller-Bahns has been Head of the Research Department at Göttingen University since 2015. After studying in Freiburg and Oxford and completing his doctorate in Heidelberg and Mannheim, he received his PhD in mathematics from the University of Mannheim in 2004 and subsequently held various management positions in higher education administration at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg and Leibniz University in Hanover.

With effect from 1.9.2019, Dr. Michael Müller-Bahns was appointed full-time Vice President of the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. From April 1 to Juni 30, 2024, he was also entrusted with the duties of the President of the HMTMH.
